"We are a purpose-driven church started by Saddleback Church. Small Group Ministry is one of the three primary responsibilities of the purpose-driven church. In the past, our church hosted a "Weigh Down" group, another small-group-based weight-loss program. We are presently seeking to reestablish a Christian-based weight-loss group this fall. Thin Within will be our choice because it:
Adheres to a mission of helping people not only with their weight loss but also with deepening their spiritual walk with Christ.
Is doctrinally sound.
-Focuses on both God and Scripture in the daily program.
-Has a Christ-centered and grace-based emphasis. No use of guilt!
-Listens to the body's natural signals of hunger and fullness.
-Offers a wealth of resources to draw from.
-Emphasizes accountability through group encouragement and support rather than nagging and condemning.
-Approaches weight loss holistically, including the importance of our spiritual well-being.
-Provides practical resources that heighten and maintain weight loss.
-Is economical in cost.
-Makes it easy to organize a group.
-Provides great support from home office."
"As a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist with Minirth Meier New Life Clinics for fourteen years, I have often seen the negative effects of weight problems. Not only are these individuals burdened by feelings of inadequacy, unworthiness, and poor self-image, but they also tend to alienate themselves from family and friends as a result of these feelings. Even worse, they often feel alienated from the one true source of love and acceptance - God, our Father.
"Since serving in a large church in Dallas, Texas, and taking on the responsibilities of Minister of Education and Married Adults, I have been introduced to many programs that bring innumerable blessings to those involved. I feel that the Thin Within program can do just that. In its nearly thirty year tenure, thousands of people from all around the world have benefited from incorporating its teachings into their lives. Not only have tens of thousands of pounds been lost through the strength and power of the Lord, but many lost souls have also had their relationships with Him restored.
"If you are a person looking for release from your prison of weight problems or a ministry leader looking for an outreach opportunity to bring people into your church, I would encourage you to learn more about the Thin Within program."

"As a practicing board-certified emergency room physician, I see the effects of poor nutrition every day. As a graduate of Loma Linda University Medical School where the importance of good nutrition is taught, I learned and have seen firsthand the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle. Yet large numbers of people are not properly grounded with regard to issues of weight and food. I see so many physical, mental, and emotional problems that are directly related to a lack of knowledge of what a healthy body needs to perform the way God planned. I have found the Thin Within program to be an excellent resource for those who struggle in these areas. Through the program's core teaching of listening to one's internal signals of hunger and satisfaction, many can learn to overcome these difficulties in a manner that is both balanced and healthy.
As a Christian for thirty-five years, I have also been impressed with the scriptural foundation of the Thin Within program. Many people try to rely on their own strength and their own willpower in this area of their lives. This approach leads to failure and frustration. By learning that it is not one's own internal strength but that of the Lord that facilitates progress in this area, program participants are freed from feelings of guilt and condemnation. Without these negative feelings, the struggle with one's weight can be overcome. With this healthy lifestyle, people drastically reduce their risk of cardiac disease, hypertension, thyroid disease, elevated cholesterol, and other health problems by being proactive in taking care of God's temple."
