There is no doubt that we are in a battle. We want to be willing to do what it takes to give ourselves to the Lord. Standing in the strength He provides, we can do this. One babystep at a time. It isn’t easy, but it IS simple.
Today, can you wait for physical hunger? Just right now, where you sit….can you stop whatever it is you may be eating or planning to go get to eat (I have found that reading this blog may cause people to want to eat!).
Can you identify the thought that is leading you to eat outside of physical hunger? Is it a lie? Is it a “little ‘t’ truth?” Can you apply God’s “Big ‘T’ Truth” to this situation?
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
New International Version (NIV)
Are you using the weapons that God has given you? Are you willing to demolish arguments and pretensions that set themselves up against knowing a greater intimacy with God? Are you taking captive your runaway thoughts? Or are you being taken captive by runaway thoughts?
Good Morning Heidi,
First of all, I want to say thank you for giving and giving and giving to all of us! The amount of material you provide for your blogs, Bible studies, encouragement on FB, and more, seem impossible to do in a day. I was thanking God for you this morning and realized that I needed to thank you personally.
Secondly, I do not know how to find the class recording from yesterday. Where would I find that?
You Rock!

Taking captive in Jesus name every vain imagination that exalts itself above the word of God and casing it down in Jesus name. Amen. I find that the media puts food in our face all the time! I call it food PORN! Sounds sickening and it is. They pull at our emotions all the time…With there food commercials, Alcohol, Sex, And oh! The Beautiful made up woman in SKIMPY CLOTHES! No wonder we all have such a battle to fight especially us Christians. Men and woman. I think of a Psalms 101, says I will put No vile thing before my eyes. That is my goal! When the TV is on and the commercials run I will turn my eyes away! My Husband actually hits the fast forward button. We are so over stimulated with these things on a daily bases. I do not watch TV a lot, Just in the evening with my Husband to catch up on news. Some times we will watch a TCM movie that is clean.
God is after our whole hearts! not just my weight issues, He is using this to get my attention. God my Father is so loving and gentle and because He loves me He will chastise me. I’m so glad he loves me in His son Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 6:16-18
King James Version (KJV)
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Psalm 101
King James Version (KJV)
101 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.
2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord.
This weekend I am going to a Beth Moore conference (so excited!!!)!! It’s like a retreat with food involved between sessions. Social eating. I know what I can be like at times with social eating. So with the suggestion from my accountability partner, she suggested that I write down a couple of scriptures to have with me. I did just that and ended up writing 4 down on a piece of paper I have tucked into my pocket. I also typed out the scriptures onto my ‘notes’ on my phone. I used the ‘I Deserve A Donut’ app to find some scripture ideas and also read through some of those questions. I feel prepared! I have to be willing to fight! I WILL have victory through Jesus!
How was your conference, Christina? I hope it was a HUGE blessing! Great ideas you came up with for having strategies while you are at a conference. That can be SO tough. WOOT!
