Is Thin Within a diet of some kind?
We are a faith-based, non-diet approach to lasting peace with food, eating, your body, yourself and God! No, we are not a diet, but people who go through our programs and coaching often lose weight. Most often, they find the strength to leave the compulsion of dieting behind. Many of our participants are relieved not to be dieting any more. What they couldn’t do in their own strength, God has done in them through His power perfected in weakness!
What is the difference between Thin Within and a diet?
- Dieting taught us all or nothing thinking. We either fail or we succeed. VS Thin Within that teaches us that each and every slip stumble fall or failure can be used by God to show us new aspects of His character, new strategies to apply to be equipped for victory, and new grace.
- Dieting taught us to be fearful. When we lost weight, we were always afraid we would gain it back again. VS Thin Within that teaches us that God’s perfect love casts out fear. Our spiritual roots deepen and the life-giving love of God supplies everything we need for life and godliness. We have been given FULLness in Christ.
- Dieting has vilified the food. VS Thin Within that shows us our hearts are the problem. Colossians 2:20-24 says: Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:“Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perishwith use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humilityand their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence. In Thin Within, we select any food we wish to eat (considering medical advice from our doctor) and do so in moderation when we are physically hungry, stopping at that “just enough” point of physical satiety.
I can't figure out my hunger and satisfied signals. How can I succeed at Thin Within?
After years of alternatively dieting and eating with abandon, many of us have lost connection with our body and the signals that God placed in each of us. Thin Within shows us to prayerfully invite God in to the process of “finding” hunger and satisfaction. As we wait and pray, growing in our dependence on Him, not only do we begin to experience these wonderful signals (like the signals in our body for needing to rest, go to the bathroom, etc.), but we connect with just how “fearfully and wonderfully made” we are!
